Twin brothers Austin and Tyler Jones are umpiring a game together for the first time at the major league level
BALTIMORE (AP) — Twin brothers Austin and Tyler Jones umpired a game together for the first time at the major league level Wednesday when they worked the opener of a doubleheader between Toronto and Baltimore.
Austin Jones was at first base and Tyler Jones was handling second. Both began umpiring in the minors in 2014 and have been at the Triple-A level this year, although they've done big league games separately before. They reside in South Carolina. This was their first time working a pro game together since they did so in the rookie league over 10 years ago.
Both Austin and Tyler Jones were also expected to work the second game of the doubleheader.
According to umpscorecards.com, Austin Jones made his major league debut in 2024 and Tyler made his last year.
